dress up!

I think most of us fashion bloggers love to play dress up. I think ever since I started thrift shopping I became more whimsical with my sense of style. Here is a long overdue review on an ASOS haul I had awhile back. I bought two (not these exact ones because they are out of stock, but they were more Hawaiian-floral patterns. The best part though that they were on sale like this one, offer a lot of support because they are pretty much made like bras except have a better fabric than most bras) bikini tops,  a daisy chain headband and this dress. All pictures will be of the dress~

It was my first time shopping with Asos and I wanted to see if it was really worth spending like $75 bucks on a dress. I'm a shopping addict but I am only familiar with American brands so when I moved out of the country I found that many of my fave retailers were not close by and/or were marked up Quite A Bit here...or charged an arm and a leg for shipping.

ASOS was a brand that had international shipping that was not outrageous. Long story short I was pretty bummed when my package was held for random by customs. Nevertheless, I got it after the event I wanted it for. It would have been a bit too much for a wedding anywho~ It's a cute club/going out item though and the fabric as you might be able to tell from the pics is very luxe.

I wish this dress came in the actual color pictured, but lighting is baaaaaad in my apartment so this is just me toying around with the photo on photoshop. The original color is best seen in the last photo where it is a fuchsia/magenta-ish (its a little darker than the two) purple. I love Royal Blue but I have too many items in that shade anyway. The dress is a bit hard to get into, even though it's stretch, but that's because it fits like a glove--so perfect!! I probably just should do some yoga so I'm a bit more flexible.

I enhanced the color for because of the lighting but somehow my dress came out black. What did come out brighter is my makeup. I'm actually using eyeshadow (in a gold & gold-rust shade) for blush and contouring. I love the brand NYX because it's affordable and yet their stuff is pretty pigmented and high quality. The shadows are part of a eyeshadow set called something like "for blue eyes only." I'm also wearing a tiny bit of it on both eyes (not that you can tell) just to make my skintone more even. The other shades are nice for a smokey eye look (it's a deep dark purple and other colors for highlight that is much easier to put on than black because blacks tend to look too harsh).

Here is the photo that gives a glimpse of the regal purple color. Also, this is the one-shoulder detail--it  hardly shows in any of my photos because my hair was covering it up.

Because this is a one-piece I needed a strapless bra. Honestly, I'm not a big fan of any of the ones out there except for the sticky gel ones. But they aren't very economical I suppose. I'm using one from Victoria's Secret that gets the job done but is lackluster. And my shoes are from walmart.
The bodycon style and draping on the dress means I don't really need shapewear for this one! I'm sure it wouldn't hurt but I don't have any at the moment...
P.S. I really love the Freya brand (it's what I got the bikinis in) it's sold at Asos.com and Figleaves.com.
Although I do use the bikini top quite a bit, so for one of them the underwire came out. I don't hand wash my items though like you're supposed to, I just throw them in the washing machine.... so that's probably why.

Oh yeah, and my shoes are from KMart they were on sale for like $15.

Anywho, as I'm pretty new to doing OOTD any advice people have would be great. I don't have a tri-pod so I have to do a balancing act using chairs and stacked items to get the camera up a bit. So it's been a bit of a challenge.
